In the 60's there was a Krogers, Walgreen's. Woolwoth's, Behr clothing, the Hikes Point Post Office and a Family fair, later Topps, discount store that burned to the ground.

Being renovated in late 2008. But more vacant than ever during the renovation. Used to be quite nice, with one of Louisville's last independent drug stores (Ruben's) and a large family restaurant, Longino's, which has relocated to Preston Street.
  • Mall St. Matthews, kamiel (guest) wrote 17 years ago:
Not a dead mall or even close, but the ownership group also owns Oxmoor, and has decided Oxmoor is for more upscale shopping and Mall St. Matthews is for... mid-range, or something like that.

3rd st & Eastern Parkway has been one of the most dangerous intersections in Louisville for decades. In many years it records more accidents than any other intersection.

Gottschalk Hall. U of L History department. Building was constructed in 1894. Has been used by the University since it was acquired in 1923, was a chemistry building at one point but has been home to the History Department since at least the 1960s, it has been remodeled many times and includes an elevator. As of 2008 has 3 classrooms and a bunch of professor offices. Named for Louis Gottschalk.

I remember visiting the natural history museum and seeing the whale skull. They also had some castings of gold nuggets, but couldn't identify them because their labels had disappeared during the 1937 flood.

Every Friday or Saturday, they do the time warp again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again... You'd think they would have found a new movie that sucked as much to Jock.

It is now a BD's Mongolian Grill. A Mongolian restaurant with a Joe's Crab Shack atmosphere. For a more authentic Mongolian experience, try Two Han's Mongolian Grill in the area of Hurstbourne and Taylorsville Road to the southwest of here just about a mile.
